A story that continues!!! |
 |
| In
1937 the name "Transport
LA POPULAIRE" appeared, with coaches going on customised tours,
mainly for tourism. |
|
| Regular
services were gradually introduced during the 1950s; the LA POPULAIRE
company has always been a pioneer in this kind of service. |
|
 |
 |
| In
1973 Paul
Codomier (who had driven coaches since he was 19 in 1939) took the
initiative of acquiring the La POPULAIRE company which was in difficulty
at the time, with the aim of developing it. He formed a limited
company with his son Jean-Paul Codomier and his son-in-law Jacques
Pomié, giving La Populaire a family feel, which was soon
reflected in the quality of the drivers' work. |
|
The
70s and 80s saw the constant development of regular services, first
between Rodez and Millau and later on as far as Montpellier.
At the same time the "Grand Tourisme" activity took off
considerably, owing to the quality of the vehicles, maintained to
the highest standard in the region. |

 |
| At
the beginning of the 90s, the success of the company led it to change
its legal structure in order to allow much greater investment. Each
terminus, at Rodez, Millau and Montpellier, now had its own depot. |
|
| The
middle of the 90s was marked by the sudden death of Jean-Paul Codomier
and the arrival of his son Bruno, who was determined to maintain
the dynamism of the business and to put the accent on close relationships
with his clients and partners. |
|
 |
 |
| The
company's main activity is based on contracts with local authorities:
the Midi-Pyrénées Region and the departements of the
Hérault and the Aveyron. |
|
| Between
them, Jacques
Pomié and Bruno Codomier have given a new lease of life to
the La POPULAIRE company: a Quality Control system has been put
in place, and in 2003 the company was one of the very first in public
transport to obtain ISO 9001 (version 2000) certification. Yet another
guarantee of the achievements of La POPULAIRE. |
